A little larger than 1/5th scale but not quite 1/4 scale. This was
my favorite plane to fly in 2011 and the first half of 2012 (until I
had a 1/4 scale Nieuport 17 built for me). Since the Nieuport
was a large wingspan plane, this BIPE looks the size of most 1/4 scale
bi planes and flies much like one. It will build heavier than
a stick built Balsa USA 1/4 scale bipe and it will need about the same
power (1.20 Four Stroke, 110 Electric, or 26cc gas) For the price, what
you get is so much that you don't have to buy much extra to get it
flying. I chose to make it electric using an 11S setup with Gens
and 6S 3300mAh batteries (I had 2 each already). Monster
160 motor. I under propped it and used a Hobbywing 70A Platinum Pro HV
ESC from HobbyPartz.
Originally I had EXI servos, then switched to all Hitec 645MG
servos. Fully put together, I was able to hang this in my
and put it into the back of my suburban without ever taking it apart. I
can literally arrive at the field and be up in the air in about 2
minutes. I've been first one in the air at several WW1 and
warbird fly ins. Plane was purchased from Maxford RC. I
also put in the optional built up machine guns.
If you elect to put a 26cc motor, I recommend the Zenoah G26.
you are on a budget, the CRRC that Maxford sells I hear has good
reviews since they test them out themselves.
Note: I purchased one of the last versions of this one. The Roosevelt
plane. They have a new
version 22% they call it that I hear is much better and
